ON Legal Marketing is founded by former Chambers editor Crystal Lo in Hong Kong. In the four languages she speaks, the meanings ON carries resonate with what ON Legal Marketing hopes to bring to its clients. We aim to leverage our strengths and experience to provide clients with cost-and time-effective solutions that bring greater results and peace of mind.
Legal directories submissions may not be everyone's favourite, but don't say NO to them, say ON!
About Crystal
Crystal Lo has over 15 years of experience in the legal industry, specialising in legal recognition and strategic client relationship management.
Crystal worked with the Asia Pacific and Global teams of Chambers and Partners in London, before being appointed to set up and head up their first ever overseas offices in Hong Kong in 2010, leading a team of 12 on-the-ground researchers (including qualified lawyers, barrister and university lecturer) to conduct Asia-Pacific research. During her time as the head of Chambers' Asia representative office, Crystal was in charge of every aspect of the operation, including research, business development, accounting, human resources, IT, client services and more.
She had interviewed over a thousand lawyers and legal services users across different jurisdictions, reviewed hundreds of submissions and made ranking decisions for a wide range of practice areas, including but not limited to anti-corruption & investigations, banking & finance, capital markets, competition, corporate & M&A, dispute resolution, employment, gaming & gambling, insurance, international trade, intellectual property, projects & energy, real estate, shipping and TMT.
Crystal introduced and hosted the first few Chambers China and Asia-Pacific Awards, introduced the first bilingual chapter (Chinese and English) in a Chambers guide, and edited the first and only Chambers Hong Kong Student Guide.
Crystal later worked at Herbert Smith Freehills for 11 years, first as its awards and directories manager, looking after the firm's global submissions for all practice areas, supporting over 2500 lawyers across all its offices and associated offices in five regions and almost 30 cities. Apart from maintaining and improving the firm's and its lawyers' rankings, Crystal also helped the firm win recognition for its diversity and inclusion initiatives, innovation, pro bono contribution and community services.
She later assumed the positions of senior client relationship manager and ESG BD Lead, taking care of some of the firm's biggest clients including the world's largest companies in various industries as well as promoting sustainability internally and externally. She had also gone on an unprecedented client secondment to a Fortune 500 company's in-house legal team to help with its marketing initiatives, reporting directly to the Chief Legal Counsel.
Crystal's experience with a leading legal directory, global law firm and in-house legal team combined is unique in the legal marketing world, bringing her unrivalled insights to advise clients on strengthening their brand and standing out among others.
